What a Game,

I have not been glued to the Olympic games this year. I've been stuck to the computer and to the chair in my workroom. Today, however we took some time off and went to Mom and Dad's house for the US vs. Canada final hockey game, and what a game it was. Hats off to the Canadian team for their overtime win and kudos and congratulations to the amazing American team. I would be remiss not to mention that stand out goalie, Ryan Miller plays for the Buffalo Sabres, my hometown team. Fellow Olympic teammate, Patrick Kane grew up in South Buffalo, just down the road from where I sit now. Good job all around.

One of my brand new birthday cards was in a treasury today made by stitchnmomma.etsy.com.
I hope you get some time to check out her Etsy shop, full of beautiful cross stitched goodies. Check out the treasury and all the adorable Cake goodies available in Etsy shops.
Good Sunday morning to you all. I've added a couple new items to my Etsy account and would love it if you would take a peek. My plans for the day include a few hours in my workroom completing some cards to go to Village ARTisans shop, where I will be putting them on display late Thursday. It will be my first foray into consignment selling, so I have my fingers crossed.

My time is limited in my work room today because Larry and I have been invited to Moms for dinner tonight. It's always hit or miss when Mom cooks, so we shall see. I look at it as an adventure.

I hope your Sunday is a wonderful one,

Becky

I'm Bilingual

Etsy is teaching me new things every day. I received a convo from a fellow Etsian, RevivalVintageDesign on Tuesday evening, asking me to change the "Mom" on my purple flower bouquet mother's day card to "Mum". In England they celebrate Mothering Day in March and they call their mother's Mum. Please find Revival at http://www.revivalvintagedesigns.etsy.com/.

It's funny, I remember my mother calling my grandmother Mum, and I remember thinking that was her name when I was really young and then I thought it was just some family thing. See I'm learning to speak English, and not just American.

The weatherman here is promising a snow storm starting later today. Hmmm, I'm not sure if we can believe him or not, but if he's right, snow day tomorrow? Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh Damn

I just wrote a blog post, and lost it! How the heck did that happen? How well to make it short and sweet it said that nothing new is happening, I had a quiet day, and wasted considerable time checking in on my Etsy shop.

I'm going to try to show you my newest Easter card. Who knows where it will show up, but let me know if you like it.

It's time to get myself up to the workroom so --make people happy today, buy a card from Sweet and Sassy Cards. You will be happy, your recipient will be happy, and I will be happy too.

Bye for now,

Becky

Yesterday was a good day

I received an email from a young woman who is opening a shop which will feature local artists. She asked if I would like to sell my cards there, so I'm waiting for more information from her. I decided to take a little drive to see her shop and brought my cards with, just in case. Well, it turns out that they are still fixing up the new shop and it was closed.

My dear hubby decided that he wanted to go into a completely different neighborhood to have some crawfish thing for lunch...and what did I see? Another shop (swanky part of town-ohh laa laa) that is called Village ARTisans.

I am not comfortable going outside of my comfort zone, and I've never done anything like this before, but I marched in with my cards and introduced myself to the owner. Long story short, I will be selling my cards there as soon as I can finish them! Wow. I wasn't at all sure of myself and when I saw the quality of the work in the store, I almost turned away.

See I told you, I'm learning something new everyday.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

My first Etsy Treasury

I'm very excited this morning. I'm in my first Etsy treasury, thanks to Stitchnmomma. Please check out her unique shop, filled with cross stitched treasures. The treasury is all about spring flowers, and oh boy, I think we are all ready for them. The sun is out in Buffalo today and you can almost feel the promise of spring.

I'm taking a basket of cards to my awesome hairdresser today. Stephanie is going to help me sell them and I am very grateful. Her shop is ultra hip and I have to say, hardly a day goes by when someone doesn't ask me where I get it cut, so I'll fill you in it's Shear Texture, on Clinton Street in West Seneca, NY.

Anyway, I'm off to buy some new punches, because I broke two of them this week :( See you soon.

Good morning, I'm on vacation this week. Time to cuddle up and sleep in and just enjoy the fact that I don't have to go out into the cold if I don't want to. Then why, I ask you, is this the third morning in a row when I've been up an hour earlier than usual? Could it have something to do with Etsy?

I seem to have broken out of my no sales slump and made two sales yesterday. I'm very excited about this and need to go to the post office to see about the best way to send out last night's order.

Tonight I shall actually go out. My friend Joanne and I are going to one of our favorite restaurants, homemade Italian food like you've never had before. Delicious. Then it will be off to the movies.

So nothing particularly witty to add today. Hope your day is wonderful.

A Much Happier Day

OK today I get to lighten the mood, but first I want to thank everyone who sent good wishes and prayers my father's way yesterday. He sailed through his procedure, was declared to be blockage free, and was home by 8:00 last evening. I have read your messages and was grateful and touched by your thoughtful and kind words to a virtual stranger, it was greatly appreciated.

So, today my plan is to wear my comfy pants and spend the day in my workroom. I will not leave the house. People of Etsy tell me that I should be getting ready making some inventory for the busy season. I shall do this in hopes that they are right, and I will experience a busy season.

It's Wednesday and every Wednesday is ghosthunters day in my house. My son and his fiance' (my fellow Ghosthunters) will be over to watch our favorite ghost show. It may not sound too exciting, but at least once per week my grown son and favorite soon-to-be-daughter in law spend the evening just hanging out, so I look forward to it. If we can't be out hunting ghosts ourselves, we will watch others do it on TV.

I hope your day brings you joy,

Becky

Good morning to all,

I'm afraid of today. We will be picking my parents up in a couple of hours and taking my dad for angioplasty. He had open heart surgery two and a half years ago, and seemed to be doing well. Lately he's been afraid and making comments that make me wonder. He tells us to take care of my mother and has been giving little bits of life advice which he usually doesn't do.

My hubby (Larry) and I will be waiting with my mother. This will be a long day for her as well. She is suffering from, shall we say, "memory issues", and will forget where she is or why she is there. This is a day I've been dreading.

I promise you, blog followers that my posts here will not always be full of woe and dread, but today, I ask for your thoughts and if you have a moment, maybe just throw a quick prayer out to the universe for dad.

I'm still in my robe

Happy Monday morning to all. As I sit here at my computer, in my bathrobe contemplating the day ahead, I am happy. Not only is today a vacation day, (which translates to more workroom time) this is a vacation WEEK. There are many benefits to working in a school and this is definately one of them.

My day job is a Library Media Aide. I work in an elementary school, grades three through five. My two children, Larry and Ashley are grown and out on their own. Neither is far from home, one is about 30 minutes away and the other is about an hour out. I am grateful though that I get to spend my days with other people's children. They are usually happy, and their stories can always make me smile. I'm sure that as time goes on, I'll make you laugh too with some of the things they say.

Oh, look at that, my neighbor is pulling out onto the snowy street, on her way to work. I feel bad. My hubby will be leaving soon too, after he finishes shoveling the driveway.

I think I have time for one more cup of coffee, then its off to work on some really cute Mothers Day Cards. I hope you all have a wonderful day and that everything goes your way today.

Happy Valentines Day

I love Valentines Day. It's one of the best days of the year in my humble opinion. It has nothing to do with chocolates. A card, or course to show your feelings is always appropriate. The happiness factor that accompanies Valentines Day is caused by the fact that it is officially half way through February.

You need to understand that we live in Buffalo, NY. Well, Cheektowaga actually which is a three minute walk from Buffalo. It has been cold here since October and I'm tired of WINTER. I am more than ready to open the windows and breath some sweet spring air.

In celebration of my Valentines Day happiness, I am going to spend most of the day in my work room working on some spring holiday cards. Afterwards, we're going to spend the afternoon with my parents. Later in the week we'll be spending the day at a local hospital while my dad undergoes some testing for his heart.

Anyway, thank you Valentines Day for reminding me that spring will be here soon.

My first Blog

Will anyone see this? My name is Becky and I am attempting to start my first blog. My new Etsy shop is Sweet and Sassy Cards and my goal is to show the world my cards and to expand my horizons and take on some new challenges in my life. I've never been one to sail into uncharted territory, I've always left that to the explorers in the world, but I feel like maybe it's my turn.

I would really like to get to know my fellow Etsians, people from other places, and to find out just how far I can go - and to get out of my comfort zone.

Will you help me?
